Review of Albert Nobbs (2011) by Neil Mikel L — 29 Jan 2012
Close chooses to live as a man to escape the hardship of a male dominated world, discrimination, abuse, employment. Somehow, she befriends Mr. Page (Janet McTeer)--the two reveal a secret that may cost them their solace.
The scenes between Close and McTeer are powerful. I enjoyed the muses and struggles these two faced, but due to fear of society and cultural norms the interactions of people outside of the duo are frightening and flawed.
