Review of Albert Nobbs (2011) by Martha A — 03 Jul 2013
This is not a light "forget it tomorrow" movie--it is thoughtful and you realize near the middle just how "joy-less" this woman/man's life is in reality. Glen Close is incredible as are the others around her.
There is not one soft place in it, it shows the era for what it was--either very rich or desperate for work--desperate enough to pretend to be a man. There are so many facets to this story/movie that your mind will work around it even the next day. There are many ways to take this movie other than jut on the surface.
I wish I could see it again for the first time. I just wish that greedy owner of the hotel got her comeuppance!
