Review of After Life (1999) by Alexander R — 04 Oct 2009
Most films (as opposed to movies, shall we say?) are made to have us reflect on life. With this film, Director-Writer, Hirokazu Koreeda, goes the literal route with this notion; in a very imaginative and original way.
This film is such a daring undertaking in its plot. Furthermore, it's touching in itself that Koreeda was not only bold enough to provide the deep investment that the subject matter demanded from its writer/director, but that he was also emotionally drawn into such convoluted material. And finally, it deserves applause because he pulled it off so well.
I'll write more on this later.
