Review of A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014) by Reece L — 08 Apr 2015
It's 1:06am on Thursday, the 9th of April, and I just watched the most riveting piece of film making, in the form of an Iranian Vampire Western. Perfectly paced, well drawn out. Subtle, unique, and superb.
A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night is without a doubt my favorite western, as I'm not a huge fan of the genre, and can only be seen purely as an achievement in conscious, sophisticated, and exquisite cinema.
From the get go, the world of AGWHAN is much more than is seemingly sitting on the surface. Dark, intense, moody atmospheres follow our characters and a chilling female lead lend to the capturing of our imaginations and our hearts.
If you can indulge in really fantastic story, cold and dark as it may be, and you don't need the regular antics of blockbuster titles, watch this film. You might need to turn on a light.
