An achievement of the highest order. Brilliant from beginning to end, it often reaches the heights of a superbly and richly detailed novelistic quality. It captures a time period, but in such a timeless manner that it is impossible not to relate or be drawn into the compelling narrative.
As with all great films; it's more than a film.
