Review of 2LDK (2003) by Nick S — 14 Feb 2008
Part of the Duel Project, filmed in a week with just one set, this really is gripping, focussed drama from relatively unknown director Yukihiko Tsutsumi. As these two wannabe actresses descend from a bout of flatmate friction into a homicidal haze, its hard to feel too much sympathy for either Lana or Nozomi, as plenty of reasons to dislike both of them are laid out in the first forty minutes.
That said, Nozomi's lack of emotion is a little bit more disturbing than Lana's inability to draw a line under the squabble and prevent mutual tragedy.
