Kenji Misumi has directed many of the Zatoichi movies and most of the Lone Wolf & Cub movies. When it comes to Zatoichi this is my favorite by him. It looks great, everything from the boat scenes to the sword fighting is top notch.
He even throws some comedy our way that actually works without feeling to silly. A great chapter in the Zatoichi epic.
