Review of Zach Galifianakis: Live at the Purple Onion (2007) by Ken S — 16 Jan 2012
"Zach Galifianakis: Live at the Purple Onion" is a pretentious attempt to turn a stand-up special into an indie flick, obviously because the comedian (Zach Galifianakis) did not have enough material to fill up an entire hour.
While there may be a few moments of hilarity (of which I counted about four), there is nothing laugh-out-loud funny. Galifianakis' comedic style is unfunny and awkward, mainly because all that he does is make fun of the crowd for a good half-hour.
