Easily my favorite Akira Kurosawa movies. It stars a rough and tough Toshiro Mifune as a wandering ronin named Sanjuro Kuwabatake. He arrives in a town being ravaged by two rival gangs. Using his cunning and wit, he tries to turn the gangs onto each other, to make them eliminate themselves.

It's a rather creative story that was more or less copied for the popular western: "Fistful of Dollars". If you can stand black and white films with subtitles, it's definitely worth seeing!
