Review of Yojimbo (1961) by Anthony K — 25 Jun 2008
For it's time, Yojimbo stands as both a rebellious and inspiring film. It is true, Kurosawa's uncomprimisng creative spirit in creating no-punches-pulled Samurai films paved the way for other rather subversive film genres (most notibly the American western).
I honestly cannot recall another film made in 1961 in which a man's armed is severed from his body.
