Review of Xiu Xiu: The Sent-Down Girl (1998) by Nathan H — 28 Jul 2008
This is perhaps the most despressing movie in the history of depressing movies. Perhaps the most depressing story in the history of depressing stories. The film itself is interesting. A close look into rural life in 1970s china.
Unfortunately, life does not turn out well for the sent down girl, nor for her custodian. Not for the feint of heart at all.
