Review of Wendy and Lucy (2008) by Michael A — 11 Jan 2010
This is the kind of movie where at the end you're going to love or hate, and since I love neorealism, minimalistic style, and I used to pet dogs (lots of them), so I fall into the first category. Wendy and Lucy works very well as a social commentary.
A simple tale of loneliness where a girl's only friend, a dog named Lucy is missing and all she's going to do is searching for her, but I was surprised at how I found this movie riveting and also devastating.
The biggest help Wendy's got comes from a stranger, that also shows how ironic this world could be. The plight of Wendy's really palpable, kudos to Michelle Williams' performance and Reichardt's direction style.
