Review of Watching the Detectives (2007) by Alanna W — 13 Mar 2008

Cute! It's too bad this movie didn't get a theatrical release. I suppose in order for me to like a romantic comedy, it has to be about movie geeks and the possibly mentally unstable women they love.

The performances won't blow you away (it is a rom-com after all), but Cillian Murphy does a solid job in more lightweight fare than we usually see him in, and Lucy Liu is actually pretty adorable.

There are moments in this movie that made me cringe at the lameness of the writing, but then they'd win me back again with lines like "I went into the store and it was empty. It was kind of creepy, but then I thought maybe you were doing one of those promotions, like post-apocalyptic movie day.

" I would totally rent movies from that place.
