Review of Viva Zapata! (1952) by Adam C — 22 Apr 2008
This not being out on DVD is a pure sin. This is one of the best films of the 1950's. It is packed wall to wall with artists at the top of their game. The cast is great all around and Brando gives one of his best performances.
Elia Kazan does a great job directing and gets some powerful performances from his actors. Also to note is that John Steinbeck wrote the script and it is poetic. The has aged little and could easily be enjoyed by today's modern viewer.
A film that amazed me.
