Finally managed to get hold of the DVD (thanks Santa) - Milos Forman's version of the famous story was just as good as I remembered! Such a shame two great films based on the same story were released almost simultaneously in the late 1980s - this was the one to suffer.
But it is such a beautiful film - photography, light, music, costumes. Acting, too, even if Colin Firth looks very, very young and admittedly does not quite compare to John Malkovich in the same role in Dangerous Liaisons.
