Review of Torn Curtain (1966) by Richard D — 16 Apr 2008

I'm amazed at the amount of terrible reviews - this is surprisingly good for late Hitchcock. I put off seeing this for ages, because Marnie was so bad, but this is great riproaring fun. Some of the set-pieces are great, as you'd expect, and the actor who plays Gromek is very good.

I thought Newman and Andrews are great in it, too, and the murder scene is Haneke before Haneke was Haneke. There are problems with this, but the great scenes save it. Terrible score though.
