Review of The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights (2009) by Ryan M — 30 Jun 2011
A rare intimate look at the enigmatic band The White Stripes. This is one of the best music films I have ever seen. One of my favorite and in my humble opinion; best bands in the world. I took an instant love to them the first time I heard Jacks magic back when their third album first came out in 2002. This was before they were well known.
This documentary sums up The White Stripes perfectly and captures their brilliance in just the right light. In 2007 The White Stripes embarked on a massive quiet tour throughout the nation of Canada for their album Icky Thump. They hit every province and territory and made sure they played in the towns that are on the outskirts with small populations. Often they'd play side shows with just an hour's notice on boats, pool halls, bowling alleys, tiny town squares, and even a bus. This is an amazing experience for a stripes fan. 10/10 from me.
