Walking out of the theater late last night, it was difficult to decide exactly how I felt about this movie. I want to wait for it to come out on DVD and watch it again. That said, I am an unabashed huge fan of Jiang Wen and felt it was worth the (full) price I paid.
I'm not so surprised Jiang went home from Venice empty handed, this is not a movie you see once and come out with a solid opinion on. Plus, it may have strayed too far into that mid/late 90s trend in Chinese movies of being overly arty...In any case, an excellent film!
