Review of The Slumber Party Massacre (1982) by Chris M — 12 Feb 2008
Really fun and irreverent slasher film that was surprisingly, written and directed by women, proving that women can be just as sick and twisted.
Despite most of the film being super cheesy, some sequences do conjure a nice amount of suspense, especially during the deserted school scene with a very young and adorable Brinke Stevens, who proves herself worthy of her Scream Queen status.
The rest of the cast, however, for the most part are not as impressive and open minded as Stevens, almost exuding a sort of condescending tone in their performances. All except Stevens and the late, great Robin Stille, look downright embarassed to be here.
I reall shouldn't enjoy this film, but God help me, it's just too much fun and a lovely example of the erly 80's slasher film.
A perfect midnight movie!
