Review of The Slumber Party Massacre (1982) by Tyler E — 22 Dec 2012
The Slumber Party Massacre is a movie I just finally came across on YouTube(can watch it in parts.) But I'm glad I did finally see this one as I've always wanted to watch it but could never find it.
Here, the story is straightfoward, a homocidal maniac escaped a psychiatric hospital, for which he is serving life for murders that happened years before. He stalks a group of girls from the high school basketball team and one has a slumber party in which the murderer kills them off one by one with a power drill along with some boys and a pizza delivery man.
I found the film funny in some parts and really scary with a smart screenplay by feminist writer Rita Mae Brown, this was supposed to be a satire on slasher films and pretty girls in the state of undressed, targeted and murdered.
And Amy Jones handles the directing of a satrical script with tongue in cheek. This is an underrated slasher that is flip, funny yet scary too.
