Review of The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943) by Andrew I — 17 Feb 2011
I almost never find myself immediately attached to romantic comedies and war films, yet this combination of the two has to be among my new favorites. While I find myself once again not exactly doubling over for the dated humor, the warm-hearted feel of the film makes the characters incredibly sympathetic without ever clearly aiming for it.
Powell and Pressburger were simply ahead of their time, as filmmakers.
