The Late Bloomer has a premise that works and a cast that seems at least acceptable. Unfortunately, like so many modern comedy films, The Late Bloomer squanders its potential on a generic plot and a raunchiness that isn't even used effectively for laughs.
I scarcely laughed at all and frankly, near the end of the film, when poor male choices are essentially chocked up to genetics and horniness, I actually got a little frustrated. The Late Bloomer is a dated commentary on sexual expression and in a film world where directors are finally getting to unravel some of our absurd notions about sexual expressions, The Late Bloomer is clearly late to the party.
The movie is as bland as the main character's suit choices and with no laughs to boot. A clear miss.
