Review of The History Boys (2006) by Aletta W — 12 Feb 2008
A fantastic movie that asks questions about education for educations sake. It is very play like in that the scenes are almost static, so if you are hoping for great sweeping action scenes move along nothing to see here, but if you are interested in films as arenas for provoking debate then this is a great movie.
Some people maybe disturbed by the fact that Hector's fondling of the boys is treated with amusement and not horror, but I can say from experience that some schools have teachers who go that bit too far and the kids just laugh it off rather than seeing themselves as victims.
