Review of The Great Beauty (2013) by Scott G — 01 Mar 2014
To say this film is overwhelming would be quite the understatement. It is so very lush, so densely packed with hedonistic indulgence and soul-searching pathos, it becomes quickly apparent that a single viewing can't possibly be enough to absorb it all.
Once one acclimates to this sensory overload, simply bathing in its abundant manifestations and sublime contemplation of Beauty Itself becomes an almost spiritual experience. Fellini's presence is palpable, no doubt nodding with pride.
