Review of The Gore Gore Girls (1972) by Robert H — 05 Jul 2009
Admittedly, I'm being generous with the score of this one. In the realm of HG Lewis films, this one is one of the least interesting in terms of story. Compared to the far-out premises of anything from "The Gruesome Twosome" to "The Wizard Of Gore", "The Gore Gore Girls" is mostly a murder mystery (and a pretty boring one at that).
It's somewhat reminiscent of Italian giallo in that the murders involve a killer in black gloves. What makes this somewhat special in it's own right are the scenes of gore. Though I maintain that HG Lewis' gore sequences are already amongst the best and most hilarious, these are his crown jewels.
For those who want to see this film, I won't ruin the surprises. They are few, but they are just so hilarious and wrong. You might do well to fast forward the "story" portions of the film, but the outstanding gore sequences are not to be missed.
