Review of The Fallen Idol (1948) by Jon G — 12 Dec 2007
Just before Sir Carol Reed embarked on the Viennese odyssey of making the Third Man, he and Graham Greene collaborated on this little gem. Little Bobby Henrey plays the son of a French diplomat who idolizes his British butler, played by Ralph Richardson.
When good old Baines is accused of killing his heartless wife, young Phile tries to defend his friend. A straightfoward work that's beautifully photographed and superbly acted.
