Review of The Fallen Idol (1948) by Mikey M — 07 Dec 2010
A confidently executed film that pits the innocence of a small boy against the desires of all the adults around him. Reed's direction is clever visually and his study of the characters within is thoughtful enough to make this a genuinely engrossing watch.
The scene with the paper airplane is fabulous and was a standout moment, though I have a slight regret perhaps that the film missed a great opportunity to deliver a more shocking blow to the senses with the plot and its eventual outcome.
