Review of The Crazy Family (1984) by Alexander R — 27 Jun 2011
Superb film, which seems to have been unjustly forgotten in the contemporary market for Japanese cinema (i.e it is neither so-called 'J Horror' nor a gratuitously eccentric teen flick). the family's descent into madness (from squeaky clean suburban normality) is paced brilliantly, and the lunacy - when it comes - is satisfactorily extreme and hilarious.
one of the great Japanese comedies of recent decades.
