Review of The Chinese Feast (1995) by Mattias E — 29 Apr 2009
Just barely funny lunar new year comedy from Tsui Hark, with an off the wall-overacting Leslie Cheung and an annoying Anita Yuen pretending to be the Faye character from Chungking Express, only times ten.
The story is all over the place, but once it finally settles on the food competition it's at least a bit entertaining. The top of the line production values makes the movie look extremely good, though, especially the food.
Peter Pau makes that monkey brain look so tasty that even I would gladly have some.
