Review of The Boxer (1997) by Ellen F — 13 Jan 2013
One of my favorites. When I finally heard Jim Sheridan's director's notes this year, that was cemented. He is a dear man, with an incredible sense of humor. That shines through, though this film is dark and anxious.
His focus on humanity in the midst of the recent Irish troubles is classic storytelling at its best. The actors are all superb.
