Review of Tarnation (2003) by Brandon T — 22 Nov 2010
Wow. This film is one of the most heart-wrenching documents of a person's life that I have seen in quite some time. Jonathan Caouette assembled this hallucinatory trip down his family's lives using footage filmed throughout his life and a copy of iMovie, the program packaged in with every Mac computer. The very fact that he could edit a compelling movie out of that crappy software is merit on its own if Caoette's storytelling ability, but it helps that his lifestory is an incredibly compelling one. I don't want to ruin anything for anyone, because trust me, you will want to discover every fact of his life that he presents on your own.
Its seriously fantastic.
