Review of Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One (1968) by Private U — 03 May 2008
Very experimental film directed by William Greaves from 1968. It's a bit confusing to watch because it's about the making of a movie, but in a way, the documentary turns the making of a movie into a movie itself (if that makes any sense).
And the viewer gets to fill in some of the gaps and create the plot of the movie as well. Some great moments (though that guy at the end was a bit odd and seemed out of place). I liked the secret meetings by the crew members, it gives them a chance to speak out when the director isn't around.
Though a lot of times it's too experimental and trying to be too artistic, I highly recommend it to filmmakers. There's another one that was made a couple of years ago that I'll be watching soon called Take 2 1/2.
