Review of Superman III (1983) by Ian R — 29 Apr 2009
This Superman show is alright, but not great. I think a little comedy helps a show, but Superman isnâ??t a hero thatâ??s generally surrounded by a lot of comedy (just like Batman isnâ??t generally surrounded by comedy, outside of the 60â??s).
So having the film focus so much on the antics of Richard Pryor kind of detracted from the film for me. Also, Bob Webster was such a poor-manâ??s Lex Luthor, it bothered me. It was a nice shake up to have Lana Lang as the love interest instead of Lois Lane, but ultimately I would have liked to see the movie end with Clark making a clear decision over who he was pursuing (instead of the situation just being totally dropped and forgotten in the next sequel).
Overall, kind of a shaky show, but itâ??s still enjoyable to watch.
