Review of Starting Out in the Evening (2007) by Ellen P — 15 Jan 2008
A quiet movie that deserves more attention. Frank Langella is terrific as an aging writer struggling with his demons for 10 years to finish his latest novel. His fears that he's past his peak intersect with a changing literary landscape that favors tell-all memoirs and nonfiction over novels.
Interesting things happen when a grad student fan interviews him for her thesis.
