Review of Splash (1984) by Jo H — 31 Mar 2013

So I vaguely remembered liking this in my childhood, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, but young Jo also had a bit more lax standards then her older counterpart so it was with some hesitation that I stuck the movie in and pressed play.

Ah but I needn't have worried! It was just as cute and silly as I remembered! Loved it royally! (Though Tom Hanks was a bit more of a jerk then I remembered, I think it's the curly hair, it's hard to live down.

..). And was it just me or was that mermaid's tail one of the most convincing to date? It didn't have that whole "Legs tied up in a painted sack cloth" look that many newer fish-girl movies have! After finishing the movie I was left with a warm, satisfied feeling and a very vague urge to have a tuna sandwich.
