Review of Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (2005) by Mohani N — 14 Jun 2007
If there's anything we can learn about our youth is to seek out freedom even if it means death. This film like Somewhere in Africa (Nirgendwo in Afrika) and The Downfall (Die Untergang) how modern Germany still reflects on its facsist past as a vital lesson not only for Germans but for other countries on the path to Empire.
It's almost unbelievable how Julia Jentsch's character was only 21 and yet her courage to defy the Nazis and uphold an ideal makes it seem almost unbelievable.
