Review of Somers Town (2008) by Zapphyre W — 16 Jan 2009
A lovely feel good movie of two lads friendship forming from differing back grounds. Not quite as hilarious as Son of Rambow or as touching, yet it was still a sentimental movie, with some cheeky comic moments.
Its a marked contrast from Meadows previous darker stuff, yet the performances he got from his cast, didn't disappoint. You could argue whether the Black and White was necessary, the run time was only just over an hour and a cynic would say the ending was a little too convenient.
Still another great movie to watch from Shane Meadows though.
