Review of Shotgun Stories (2007) by Pat O — 25 Jan 2009
Michael Shannon stars in this riveting story of revenge and brotherhood. When Son Hayes and his brothers Kid and Boy interrupt their deadbeat dad's funeral, say some not-so-kind words and spit on the casket, a feuds errupts between them and a set of their half brothers.
Plans are hatched and lives are destroyed until an eventual truce is made. It ends a little sudden, but this is one of my faves of '08. Very bleak and rural, almost like a DGG film (he produced it after all).
I am overjoyed that Shannon's now an Oscar nom, he's a force to be reckoned with.
