The film starts a lot like Cloverfield does but soon changes to showcasing quick cuts centring on the Japanese ministry discussing the attacking kaiju. This Godzilla interpretation is laden with humour directed at governmental bureaucracy, Japanese-US relations, cultish behaviour, as well as the notorious Japanese work-ethic.
The design of Godzilla was absolutely fantastic! The movie was an excellent throwback to the 1954 original which was much more horrific than any of its dozens of sequels. As a whole, an extremely well done film in every respect; my fav sci-fi of 2016!
