Review of Set to Kill (2005) by Mattias E — 25 May 2009
Marco Mak makes do with very little in Set To Kill, both in terms of production value and cast, which means he'll have to settle with a cheap B-movie look and Raymond Wong as the pic's star. But seriously, Mak is, if not an ingenious director, still a pretty damn deft editor, and that indeed lift this thriller a bit above average.
The fact that all actors involved clearly thinks they're starring in Johnnie To's The Mission, and that Mak probably should have limited the endless 360-degree turns in the plot, is of course a bit bothersome, but let's not be picky.
