Yes, it's a cheesy teen movie, but it does have a damn good message. Towards the end of the movie Mary makes one of the best quotes I've heard in just about ever.
"So everything that doesn't fit into some stupid idea of what you think God wants, you just try to hide or fix or get rid of? It's all just too much to live up to. No one fits in 100% of the time, not even you.".
Spot on. That and Mary also finds that the girl she once looked down on is the one who stands by her through everything that is going on. It's a lesson both kids and adults could stand to learn.
