Review of Satantango (1994) by Nate A — 06 Jul 2008
One of the most visually audacious, artistically stunning and downright demanding cinematic experiences ever constructed, Bela Tarr's seven-and-a-half hour Satantango focuses on the futile lives of a town of peasants, the return of a false prophet, the inevitability of hopelessness and the melancholy of resistance and is most definitely not for those unwilling to put a great amount of effort into their movie watching.
But the payoff may be the most astonishing, fulfilling time at the movies you've ever had.
