Review of Saint Laurent (2014) by Ws W — 26 Jun 2015
To (unavoidably) compare with YVES SAINT LAURENT, Bertrand Bonello has proved himself not only bolder, but also having a broader sense of vision in creation & production, stronger ability of characters-exploring & story-telling through quite a remarkable cinematography & music scores. By even showing-up in the final scene himself, Bonello was just like making the best footnote on the film epilogue conclusion.
But then, after all, no strings attached is the real big reason behind, of course.
The film still sounds a bit long to me. However probably because of this lengthiness, which provides enough room for the titled character building-up in such rich & solid perspective, hence allowing Gaspard Ulliel showing his stun performance in this (his) solo piece.
