Review of Rubber (2010) by Collin M — 22 Apr 2013
I would have to say this is the best film about a tire I've ever seen. Of course, it's also the only film about a tire I've ever seen and as you can imagine, given that unusual subject matter, it is a truly unique movie with a funny, almost avant garde tone, bizarre story, and weird mixture of horror, comedy, and Pirandellian formal experimentation.
From the opening monologue where a police officer points out the 'no reason' logic inherent in some popular films before pouring out a glass of water, presumably for no reason, everything about this film is strange and distancing but most of all fresh and inventive.
Because as weird as it is, everything really works. It's funny and thought provoking and keeps you interested right up until the end.
