Review of Rigor Mortis (2013) by Amy H — 07 Jul 2014
Juno Mak's homage to supernatural Chinese horror movies has plenty of style, but lacks in the pacing department. Most of the cool stuff is left for the final battle, with lots of slow atmospheric waiting in the meantime.
It homages all sorts of Chinese supernatural horror and lore, and a pretty amazing final battle makes this horror/martial arts hybrid interesting. The ending is a bit on the weird side, but this movie a very original mix of genres with plenty of visual style.
