Review of Prospect (2018) by Abm0 — 20 Jan 2020
Absolutely loved this, particularly the dusty Blomkamp-style realism of it. More sci-fi productions should do this, it's much more believable than all the "high-tech" distracting colorful lights shining everywhere, or the stupid transparent screens that would be unusable because you wouldn't be able to read anything.
The only downside to this was how anhistoric and disconnected it was from anything we know, any overarching narrative, known universe, anything. It's just a slice of the rock-hopping resource-scavenging life of some people in some universe somewhere. It's just a bit harder to care about them if we don't get any kind of connection to their world. OTOH it might have been part of what made me curious to watch every minute of it closely - the hope of finding out a greater Where or Why all that was happening.
