Review of Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire (2009) by Nick L — 21 Mar 2011
This movie really blew me away. This story takes on in a poor neighbourhood in Harlem where the 16 year old girl Precious lives together with her physically abusive mother. Precious is overweight, illiterate and pregnant with her 2nd child.
She was impregnated by her own father, as he had raped her numorous times. She gets thrown out of school because of her pregnancy and things start to turn around when her friendly teacher sends her to an alternative school, she meets some helpful people and her self asteem begins to rise.
This movie is definetely one to watch.
