Review of Polytechnique (2009) by Jackie M — 20 Oct 2012
There is incredible, unfathomable sadness in this story. this happened in my lifetime when I was in college, meeting new and interesting people. each so willing to share and experience life. I remember being eager to go to school each day for the possibilities of what I would learn from those around me.
it is inconceivable, still 21 years later, that anyone could think the way that he thought.. it is inconceivable to me that this happened in my lifetime, in my country. it is inconceivable that it has been 21 years.
the movie is not sensational. it is not dramatic. if anything it is too quiet. there should be people screaming and raging in the aftermath but denis villeneuve chooses instead to let the horror wash over us in relative silence.
the tears didn't hit me until the credits started at the end and still they have not stopped.
