Review of Pal Joey (1957) by The Critic ( — 17 Aug 2012
A little older Frank Sinatra as Joey Evans along with Rita Hayworth as Vera Simpson...also a young Kim Novak who plays an innocent Linda English...both ladies were beautiful and wonderful in their roles! Sinatra begins as a real louse but redeems himself as the story goes on.
He lulls us, as well as a wealthy woman played by Hayworth, with his smooth singing voice and cool ways. He has always wanted to open his own nightclub and gets her to foot the bill for him...Novak is a young performer who falls for him as well.
At times I thought "This is a little racey for 1957". A little corny at the end but this was a really good movie I had never seen before.
