Review of Ossos (1997) by Bob G — 27 Nov 2016
Those in poverty not only have lousy drab lives, paucity of speech, addictions to smoking and meandering aimlessly along dirty streets; but, in Portugal, whether men or women, they all grow moustaches.
At least the New York Times found this âA parable of economic and spiritual desperation as oblique and concentrated as anything by Bresson.â?. Like all curates eggs there were a few interesting features; a very long opening shot of a man walking down the Lisbon street holding the baby; at my guess about 40 minutes before anyone manages a sentence; and some quirky ideas about where to put a baby when you want to have a sleep.
